I would suggest you 'open a file' on Armchair Tycoon.com run by a guy called
Simon Hill. CLICK THIS LINK TO READ THE NEW POSTS He was featured on the BBC1 TV consumer programme 'Hard Cash' in November 2000 regarding his involvement with a company selling silver ingots called AGM. He is now running the Armchair Tycoon.com scam which as you would see has very high buy-in costs. Although Hill is a Brit , he is pushing this crap hard in the States also. All he is doing is abusing the affiliate programs of a large number of well known companies. I spoke to a random few in November when I was looking at him. They all are furious at his activities and I have enclosed a few of their written replies. I have done little on Hill since as I have been busy on a number of big UK stories for the nationals. I probably would have forgotten all about Hill in fact, however yesterday I received a lawyers letter saying he was suing me for libel. I have therefore now made it my mission in life to break the bastard. I will get his advertising cut off, his web site taken down if I can, give him loads of bad press and contact all of the affiliates and get their lawyers to help my defence and give him lots of hassle. He calls himself "Armchair Tycoon Corporation" but I do not believe his company is a corporation in the strict American sense. I will check with UK companies house on Monday but I am certain it is an offence in the UK to use the word corporation in what is just a trading name (as he is not a limited company). I will get his local trading standards in Barnsley to start a file him and will speak to the DTI Investigations Dept. Basically I plan to become his worst nightmare. I have done all this stuff before so I know exactly how to go about getting results with the least effort. It seems he already has a very bad name in the British business opportunity scene as when I spoke just now to Susan Garlick who edits an opportunity magazine she said 'Simon Hill is a well known scammer who is to be avoided at all costs'. After further discussions with my Barrister, you'll be pleased to hear that we have decided *not* to waste any more of our valuable time (or money) on you. From your earlier comments, you are obviously *not* a threat to us at all - in any way, shape or form. I suppose you could say that we have taken pity on you. After all, why should we waste our time on a penniless moron like you? A moron who dreams of becoming a journalist one day, but doesn't have a hope in hell of doing so? So, we'll just plough on regardless, wiping out all who stand in our way - whilst *you* can simply lock yourself away in a darkened room, and play with yourself. Goodbye Loser! Sincerely,

I have just noticed your "scam" article on your website regarding my company ArmchairTycoon.com Whilst I have no problems with your site exposing scams, it does seem strange that you allow the personal rantings of a total idiot to take up your valuable server space! If you had received ONE **valid** complaint from an AT Business Owner, then that would be fair enough, but to publish text like this is ridiculous: >I have therefore now made it my mission in life to >break the bastard. I will get his advertising cut >off, his web site taken down if I can, give him >loads of bad press and contact all of the affiliates >and get their lawyers to help my defence and give >him lots of hassle. Needless to say, I would therefore appreciate it if you could take down the article with immediate effect - or failing that, at least give your readers the opportunity to read my *reply* to stupid comments. I look forward to hearing from you shortly, Sincerely,
Simon J. Hill
Financial investigator Tony Hetherington on Simon Hill
This Is Money
Nor has AGM International provided the promised shopping mall. I hope you can help because this is a lot of money for me and my family. Tony Hetherington Replies: I AM sorry that you were ripped-off as a result of Simon Hill's marketing efforts. The man is a good salesman, but he has acted as an agent for one scam after another. Financial Mail exposed Jerusalem-based AGM International last September. Hill claimed the scheme for selling goods over the internet guaranteed investors £125,000 a year. He boasted: 'After only six weeks in the business, I have already earned more than $180,000 from AGM.' But when people found they had paid for nothing, Hill's phone went dead, and one of his colleagues admitted: 'It was a total scam.' Luckily, you paid by credit card, so you have some protection under the Consumer Credit Act, which guarantees a refund from a card issuer if a retailer fails to deliver the goods. There is a slight question mark over whether this Act applies to purchases coming from abroad, but happily, your bank, Lloyds TSB, has decided not to turn this into a major issue. A spokeswoman told me: 'We have taken the view that even though we are not liable, we are going to write off the amount.' This means you will receive a full refund of £1,613. And in fairness to Lloyds TSB, the bank tells me it had already decided this before I intervened. I hope other AGM International victims are as lucky with their credit card issuers. |
